Cold Water Surf Culture - Nova Scotia Winter Session

Cold Water Surfer in Nova Scotia, Canada

The offshore winds are blowing rainbows off the lines of perfect waves rolling in, the snow sets a Frothy scene as friends new and old soak up the these days along the shore and in the water alike.

"Its not for everyone" These words were my Christmas present this year. Simple and slabby sweet as Adam proceeds to get super barreled christmas morning, his main concern was making sure that i was gonna get some too and not just sit behind the lens. I felt safe and secure after watching adam navigate the waves and i went for it, full send with all the respect and gratitude for this beautiful day and location.

From the Beginning. Spontaniously as always, a couple Kootenay Kids from Kimberley BC decided against another surf vacation to California or Mexico and went to Nova Scotia, Canada instead. We had 55 hours on the GPS as we started our mission in The Bumbleghini, my 2002 mazda protege with brand new tires and one headlight, Lots of Love to our road trip car, she got us there and back flawlessy, even with the 100km/hr winds and the sea kayak Dano put on the roof in Three Fathom Harbor, NS. We drove straight through Canada only stopping for gas and bathroom breaks, our Intuition did not disappoint as we rolled straight into a nice swell and a beautiful BnB.

What story wouldn't be great without a Love Story, for those that know me, they know that Dick loves Love. Often times there was 3-6 loved ones sleeping on the floor, sharing the bed, or even sleeping outside on the deck in the below freezing climate. We shared so many meals and crib games that my heart is overflowing, what a beautiful alignment having so many friends and family members all traveling to Nova Scotia, in the winter at the same time, you really can't plan that stuff!

"Its not for everyone" Vale la Pena in spanish means - The Juice was worth the Squeeze - Stoked!

Above is a collaboration that I could never have seen coming, teaming up with Hurricane Surf to compliment my love of sharing videos of the everyday surfer, not just the pro's. Thank you!!!

For anyone looking to explore the unexplored or take a step back and visit the roots of Canada I recommend the Maritimes, Although its not an easy adventure sometimes you have to get off the beaten path to find the real gems. Seeing the largest tides in the world, the Bay of Fundy, we hiked Cape Split, a dramatic, fish-hook-shaped peninsula in Nova Scotia that juts into the Bay of Fundy.

We had the best tour of quaint PEI, Prince Edward Island, and our friends found the most amazing old church converted into a Hostel in Cape Breton! We saw the city lights and music in Halifax and rented a quiet cabin on Porter Lake that connected to the ocean for Kayaking when the lake was not frozen!

The Stories are all recorded along with all the waves in our Archive. This was the first ever full recording of one of my surf trips and they will be getting better and better with your support! Follow our YouTube and Instagram to stay connected with our next adventure. We are looking to collaborate and lift up more artists along our journey so please do not hesitate to reach out with questions or comments! In 2026 we hope to travel the West Coast from Canada to Guatemala to bring out our clothing line that will support the weaving community and roots, Newfoundland is also on our radar along with more content and adventures coming from our Family in Peru! Here is a link to the Stories Project so you can view all the fun first hand and its also available for purchase below if you would like to support the Artists behind the story!
